Abstract

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 replaces the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and represents one of the most important criminal law reforms in independent India. This paper evaluates the historical background, objectives, reforms, constitutional implications, implementation challenges and future prospects of the transition. The study concludes that the success of the new framework depends upon judicial interpretation, institutional readiness and continued commitment to constitutional values.
