Abstract

Preventive maintenance plays a vital role in ensuring machine reliability, reducing equipment failures, and improving industrial productivity. This review paper presents a comprehensive analysis of preventive maintenance strategies and optimization techniques used in modern manufacturing industries. Various maintenance approaches, including preventive, condition-based, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance, are discussed along with their industrial applications. The study reviews statistical, mathematical, and metaheuristic optimization methods employed to enhance maintenance effectiveness and minimize downtime. Emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital twin systems are also examined for their contributions to intelligent maintenance management. The review identifies current research trends, challenges, and opportunities for future development. The findings indicate that optimized preventive maintenance significantly improves equipment availability, operational efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.
