Abstract

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has emerged as a vital component of contemporary teacher education, influencing instructional practices, professional competence, and pedagogical effectiveness. In the context of the two-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme, ICT plays a crucial role in preparing trainee teachers for technology-rich classrooms. Studies indicate that ICT integration enhances learner engagement, supports innovative pedagogical practices, and fosters reflective teaching. This paper examines the role of ICT in enhancing quality teaching among trainee teachers enrolled in the two-year B.Ed. programme. Drawing upon theoretical frameworks, national and international research, and policy documents, the paper explores the pedagogical, professional, and institutional dimensions of ICT integration. It also highlights challenges and offers recommendations for effective implementation. The study concludes that systematic ICT integration is essential for ensuring quality teacher preparation in the digital era.
