Abstract
The rapid emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is fundamentally transforming financial management practices across industries globally, with the hospitality and hotel sector at the forefront of this transformation. This paper critically examines the synergy between AI and financial management in the hotel industry, exploring key innovations, persistent challenges, and strategic implications for enhancing operational efficiency and competitive advantage. Drawing on a systematic review of peer-reviewed literature, industry reports, and case studies from 2018 to 2024, this study investigates how AI tools including machine learning (ML), predictive analytics, robotic process automation (RPA), natural language processing (NLP), and intelligent revenue management systems are being deployed to optimize core financial functions such as revenue management, budgeting, cost control, financial forecasting, accounts payable and receivable automation, and audit compliance. The study further examines the differentiated impact of AI adoption between luxury and budget hotels, as well as between large hotel chains and independent properties. Findings reveal that AI-integrated financial management systems can improve revenue forecasting accuracy by up to 35%, reduce operational costs by 20–28%, and significantly enhance dynamic pricing precision. However, critical barriers including high implementation costs, data privacy concerns, talent gaps, and organizational resistance continue to impede widespread adoption, particularly in small and medium-sized hotel enterprises in developing economies. The paper concludes by offering a strategic roadmap for AI-enabled financial transformation in hotels and identifies significant research gaps, including the need for context-specific studies from emerging markets such as India, making it a foundational reference for researchers studying AI-driven financial management practices in the Indian tourism sector.
